Just Another Day in Paradise...

We've been struggling trying to balance our time between the pool and the beach...it's been rough, but I think we'll get thru it. ;-)

Connor has made great improvements on his "swimming" skills. He has definitely mastered the "under-water-disco", his version of treading water. Although, before he understood the concept of how to hold your body in the water to "kick, kick, kick", he did his own version which has since been dubbed "under-water-disco". At least I know he can tread water! He is getting more comfortable in the ocean, loves riding the waves but is still uncertain at times.

Life is good!

So, I have obviously been slacking on blogging! The last few weeks have been very busy with moving into the condo and getting all settled in. We found a great condo complex that has a view of the ocean on the other side of the street and just 1 mile from downtown! It has two pools, hot tubs & BBQ area's for tenants to use - LOVE IT! The pool has been a great treat for Connor meeting new friends & learning to swim! (That blond haired-blue eyed-boy is quite a hit with the girls...) The BBQ is wonderful, you don't have to heat up the whole house to cook dinner! :-) Our neighbors are great, couldn't be happier! We step right outside of our Condos onto Alii Drive (the main road downtown that runs parallel with the ocean) and embark on picture perfect morning jogs - couldn't get much better than that! Last weekend, Matt went for his morning jog a little before 7am on Sunday. He said it was such a refreshing run, every 1/2 mile there were tables with water and people were just handing them out to him as he jogged by... that is, until he was passed by a couple of runners with Race Entry Numbers pinned on their backs. Matt said he couldn't help but laugh out loud once he realized that there was some race going on and everyone thought he was in the race - hence the nice water service! Matt said he politely turned down all the rest of the water stations and headed home ....

Car Accident

So ... one of the first challenges that we encountered on our move over was a scenario I never even considered for which to "go wrong". Once we finalized our plans to move to the Big Island, we were faced with many decisions. What to bring, what to sell, what to store and so on. After researching, we learned that is was by FAR worth the the $1,100 to ship our car to Hawaii. Cars over here are more expensive and in poor condition with the rust and lack of care from most owners over here enjoying the "good life". This car was by far my favorite car I had ever owned. It was the perfect combination of "fun" and safety.

Lobster

The title of the post is fittingly descriptive of the color of my back. During the constant application of sunscreen and hat check for Connor, I inadvertently missed my back/shoulder area. Everything else, fine! I took a cold shower to help aid the third degree burns, but we'll see ;-) . At least my fair skinned child is still burn free!

The Adventure Begins...

Well, whomever said traveling 7+ hours with a 3 year old can be a "challenge", has obviously never had their husband get severely sick on the plane somewhere over the pacific just west of San Francisco! Oh, did I mention also having 6 carry-on's, a stroller (that doesn't want to cooperate and fold away for storing), a car seat (the one I "had" to have, the last car seat we would ever have to buy, the convertible Swiss army knife of car seats... Also known a giant bulky pain in my ass) and not to mention 21 bags checked? Well, as you can tell the life lessons I encountered while flying to Hawaii may have been a hard experience, but looking back, I now know what the universe was trying to teach me. DRINK HEAVILY. Just kidding...sort of...

Aloha!

Mahalo for stopping by (mahalo means "thank you")! I'm enjoying my first ever tropical oasis!

I will sit down and write a full post on everything so far later this evening. We're heading out to the beach now, gotta run!

Aloha!
